Incidence and Risk Factors of Congenital Heart Diseases in Syndromic Neonates

Congenital heart defects (CHD) are the most common types of major birth defects, leading cause infant morbidity and mortality. Syndromic babies more affected by CHD. This observational study was conducted in a tertiary care hospital military facility Bangladesh. Eighty syndromic neonates were studied through history, physical examination investigated for incidence risk factors Out 80 61(76.3%) found having Male female ratio 1.18:1. Average age at diagnosis 25±1.6 days age. Down Syndrome (DS) Rubella (CRS) syndromes. Ventricular Septal defect (VSD) Atrial septal (ASD) II Consanguinity, extracardiac malformations, maternal illness (HTN, DM, Hypothyroidism etc.), both fertility non-fertility medication also to be associated with CHD neonates. CHDs have serious implications it is important understand them how they may affect child so that appropriate medical surgical treatment provided.
